Linen lamp shades are made from flax plant fibers used by humans for thousands of years.
Flax is grown for its fine strong lengthy fibers and for its healthy seeds and oil.
Hand harvested flax is higher quality due to pulling the plant up by the roots resulting in longer fibers.
Flax fibers are later dressed to removed hard parts of the stalk then grouped into bundles.
The bundled fibers are then spun into threads much like wool and cotton in preparation for weaving into fabric.
