Photo Tips:

TIFFANY REPAIR EXPLAINED: REPLACE or GLUE BROKEN GLASS - Your Choice:
Damaged glass can be replaced or secure cracked pieces can be glued for stability.
Each broken glass piece to be replaced is removed from the frame.
That frame section is cleaned out then re-framed by hand using copper foil.
Craft paper templates are created for each broken glass piece.
New glass pieces are cut out by hand using the craft paper templates.
Each new glass piece is then framed by hand using copper foil.
Each glass piece is then hand soldered back into the original framework.
Solder joints are further detailed to match the rest of the shade joints.
All work is vintage patina aged.
Replace damaged glass @ $100 per glass piece.
Glue secure cracked pieces for stability @ $5 each.
HEAT CAP REPAIR/REPLACE: Heat caps can be either smoothed by hammering or replaced.
Hammered heat caps have good results but creases will remain.
Replacement heat caps require extensive reinforcing on the inside, estimate= $$$.
DEFORMED/WARPED/SPLIT SHADES:Tiffany shades can be restored, subject to inspection.
Estimates are subject to inspection.
TIFFANY GLASS AVAILABILITY: Tiffany stained glass is completely hand made.
Colors are created by adding various minerals and metal oxides to molten glass.
The government has closed most USA glass makers.
Sourcing is reduced to existing stocks, business friends, closed studios and used vintage glass.
Hand made glass sheets have great variations in color.
Glass panels were not intended to match perfectly.
Variations are part of the aesthetic beauty of slag lamp shades.
It appears that your glass type is available with some color variations.
CURVED GLASS panels like this are only available custom handcrafted one at a time.
Glass panels are not lying on the shelf ready to install.
Customers ship their repairs to us from all over the hemisphere.

This is very time consuming old world craftsmanship.
Bending Glass Explained:
· A clay like mold is hand made in the shape of your curved glass panel.
· The clay mold is then kiln fired at high temperature for 24 hours then cured.
· A flat piece of matching stained glass is selected and hand cut.
· The flat stained glass is placed on the mold and again kiln fired at high temperature for 24 hours.
· The glass bends and assumes the shape of the mold.
· After curing, the new curved glass panel is trimmed to the correct size.
· Each glass panel is then installed into the shade frame and adjusted to fit.
Estimates - Subject to inspection:
· Create and install curved glass panels @ $400 each.
· Creating/installing any glass holder tabs that may break off @ $15 each.
· Professional rewiring with vintage style period components is available, ask.
· Cleaning, touch up or complete finish restoration is available, ask.
STRUCTURE REPAIR/RESTORATION estimates are difficult from a photo but possibly around $$$$$
Old material must be removed.
Then all of the effected glass must be copper foiled by hand (framed with copper).
Re-soldering and reinforcing with copper shims and wire is necessary for extra strength and stability.
All work is patina finished to match the shade.
Estimates are subject to inspection.
FILIGREE REPAIR:
Replacing filigree requires handcrafting a mold or creating similar brass or copper pieces to fit.
A mold is created by kneading and smoothing clay.
Undamaged filigree is pressed into the clay to create a mold template.
The mold is dried and cured for 24 hours.
The mold is then filled with molten metal to create new filigree.
After curing, the new filigree is trimmed to fit.
The new filigree is then soldered back into place.
The new filigree is hand carved to simulate the old filigree.
All work is patina finished to blend in with the existing metal frame.
Repaired filigree is not a perfect match but rather a simulation.
Estimate to repair filigree= $$$$$$ subject to inspection.
CUSTOM LAMP SHADES, RECOVERING & REPAIRS - since 1975.

The recover estimate is well over $600 each + shipping, subject to inspection.

This is old world art work that requires custom mixing of paint colors to match.
Customers ship broken shades to us from all over and production is 4 months.
We can do as much or as little as you prefer.
